 Retreat to Savor

 |
The "Hamptons" -- actually, a collection of small, postcard-pretty villages strung like pearls on the
South Fork of Long Island -- have long been a retreat for the wealthy. Surrounded by pristine ocean
beaches, the East End of Long Island features spectacular natural beauty that has also attracted
artists and writers since before the turn of the last century. Between the villages, agricultural
and viniculture land offers open vistas, and Long Island wines on both the South and North Forks
continue to gain international acclaim. |
 |
After a day spent enjoying all that the East End has to offer, come home to relax at A Butler's Manor.

Stroll through Chris's magnificent English cottage garden en route to
the sparkling, full-sized private pool. Enjoy a book from our library under the shade of
our magnificent 150-year old Sycamore Maple tree on balmy summer afternoons, or before a crackling fire
on cool evenings. Or simply unwind in the garden and watch the butterflies dance among the flowers and
the birds frolic in the fountain. |

 |
| Our grounds include: |
| |
Outdoor dining during clement months |
| |
A pool deck with lounge chairs, sunbathing amenities
and fluffy, oversized pool towels |
| |
Beautifully landscaped rose, vegetable, and border gardens |
| |
Beach chairs for your use at the beach |

 bout the Innkeepers

In opening A Butler's Manor, Chris and Kim are fulfilling a lifelong dream, utilizing their combined hospitality skills to make guests welcome and comfortable. In addition to Chris's years in private service and a jointly held love of entertaining, they owned a catering company in California and
freelanced in catering for nine years before launching A Butler's
Manor in early 2002. In A Butler's Manor's seven years of operation, they've met thousands of wonderful guests (many of whom return year after year) and continue to be gratified by stellar reviews online and in the guestbook.
British-born Chris worked on estates in Europe before moving to California in 1985 to run a property in
Laguna Beach. He met Kim (while playing darts in an Irish pub in Newport Beach, CA), and they married in
1988. They moved to the East End in early 1992 when Chris accepted a position managing an estate in East
Hampton. In his spare time, Chris loves gardening, woodworking, and learning new skills, from computers
to composting.
Kim, a native Californian, is a writer (the author of two published books, including a
memoir about Chris's life in service, titled
A Butler's Life and her recently released cookbook A Butler's Manor: The Cookbook). She loves the creativity found in cooking and decorating, and is continually plotting either a redecoration of one of our spaces or the storyline of a new book. Whenever she finds time, she's at work on her third novel.
